Accountant: Procurement , PHALABORWA MUNICIPALITY

Key performance areas:

  • Be responsible for the purchasing function

 • Be responsible for documentation and procedural applications

 • Communicate and interact with personnel across various departments in respect of specific requirements and priorities


 • Receive and verify information recorded on requisition forms (vote number, specifications, etc)

 • Communicate with the immediate supervisor on the status of specific orders and/or possible steps necessary to avoid stock depletion based on supplier delivery lead times

 • Expend orders

 • Obtain quotations in accordance with guidelines stipulated in the Procurement Policy

 • Check quoted prices and specifications against requisition/requirements of the departments

 • Interact with supplier representatives and resolve aspects pertaining to quality, discounts and delivery lead times

 • Monitor compliance

 • Perform supplier audits and monitor performance

 • Receive proposals from vendors/suppliers with regard to their products, prices and service delivery standards and/or communicate the requirements of Council policies

 • Participate in discussions at site meetings with contractors and detail deviations or non-compliance with the scope and terms of contracts and/or standard and quality of the services

 • Perform administration, reporting and recordkeeping duties

 • Collate and verify transactional documentation (requisitions, delivery notes, etc) and forward for further processing and/or resolve queries on pricing/discounts etc, referring and making available necessary supporting documentation

 • Generate specific reports detailing outstanding/back orders and re-order status and analyse inventory schedules to determine critical needs

 • Prepare reports detailing the status of suppliers/vendors engaged with the Council in respect of quality and service delivery standards and forward to the immediate superior for approval prior to forwarding to Council’s Committee for discussion.

Requirements:

  •  A BCom degree in Accounting, Logististic or equivalent
 • Computer literacy in
MS Office
 • A Code EB driver’s licence
 • 2 years’ experience
