BBD LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME

DETAILS

This programme is run on an on-going basis with two intakes in Febr
uary and August of each year.
Learners are initially given a secured 12 month contract and are paid a mon
thly stipend. After 12 months each Learner is assessed. Based on the assess
ment results the Learner may be offered a further 12 month Learnership cont
ract, offered employment at BBD or given assistance in finding employment o
utside of BBD. The goal is to help the Learner gain enough experience to ce
ment their programming skills in the workplace. BBD have a great track reco
rd with our Learners with the majority becoming BBD employees.
Learners are based at the BBD Johannesburg offices and attend specific soft
ware development training as well as being assigned a mentor and a team. Th
e mentor and team will make you feel at home and are there to make sure you
are exposed to the world of software development in a manner that allows y
ou some time and space to find your feet.
When you apply you will be asked for information about where you have studi
ed, what you studied and your results.
We do an initial selection based on this information provided so please sub
mit everything we ask for as it just makes it easier. Once over that hurdle
and if you are selected we will invite you for an aptitude assessment and
take it from there

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have completed their tertiary studies, the most common bein
g ND Information Technology.
Applicants must have no more than 1 years full time work experience
Shortlisted candidates are required to pass an aptitude assessment in Johan
nesburg and if successful will be interviewed.
Successful candidates will be enrolled in a 6 month training program and ar
e taught fundamental programming skills in Linux, C++ and C#.
On successful completion of the initial 6 month training program, the learn
er will be placed onto a BBD project team and given the opportunity to deve
lop their theoretical knowledge in the workplace.
Applicants must be prepared to work in any area or geographical region with
in the business where their skills are required.

Must be energetic with an open mind and a positive work ethic.
Strong sense of self discipline, personal accountability and sense of urgen
cy
Strong attention to detail and ability to work within a structured process-
driven environment
Must be able to work in a professional and comfortable work environment whe
re the core focus is on learning, growth, knowledge sharing, teamwork and c
ollaboration.
