Artisan Fitter

Johannesburg Water SOC Limited was established in 2001 as a municipal entity wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg. It is a R4bn turnover company employing - 2 400 people and its core purpose is to provide water and sanitation services to approximately 3.2 million people. JW will ensure that the selection and recruitment process is employment equity compliant.


Primary purpose:

  Be responsible for repair and maintenance of all mechanical plant and equipment at water and sewer installations and facilities to achieve the highest plant and equipment availability with full regard for the safety of employees.


Key responsibilities: 

• Carry out implemented standards and policies under the direction of the OPS Manager/ Foreman 


• Liaise with customers and contact persons to ensure continuous reliable and effective supply of service to the customers 


• Carry out all operational work as required 


• Ensure and promote workplace safety in terms of OHSA, SABS and any other applicable codes of practice 


• Effectively manage, develop and motivate subordinates towards the achievement of the Section's strategies and objedives.

The candidate for this post should possess the following attributes: 

• Grade 10 or N1 (NQF 2) plus a Fitter Trade Test Certificate/appropriate Learnership (NQF 4) 


• 3 years' experience on pumps, valves, hydraulic level controls, PRVs 


• Basic supervisory experience.
